Thermography Scans with the Iris XP

Privacy First, Powerful Support for Your Health

Thermography, also known as medical thermal imaging & digital infrared thermal imaging (DITI), is a non-invasive diagnostic method that employs infrared cameras to measure temperature differences across the body. Unlike traditional medical imaging techniques that focus on anatomical structures,
thermography highlights physiological changes, which can help identify early signs of disease or functional abnormalities. These scanning machines are currently available in over 300 hospitals in Japan and growing within Asia. Thermal imaging serves as an excellent supportive tool to aid in reaching a diagnosis. It is the only imaging technique that measures the body’s heat
emissions, which are widely recognised as a vital sign reflecting overall health and well-being.

Uses of Medical Thermal Scans:

1. Breast Health: Thermography is sometimes used as a supplementary tool for breast cancer screening. It can detect areas of increased heat, which may indicate increased blood flow associated with tumours. However, it is not a replacement for mammography.

2. Musculoskeletal Issues: Thermal imaging can help identify inflammation, muscle strains, and joint disorders by detecting temperature variations in affected areas.

3. Circulatory Problems: It can be used to assess blood flow and detect conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or peripheral artery disease (PAD).

4. Nerve Disorders: Thermography may help diagnose nerve damage or conditions like complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) by identifying abnormal heat patterns.

5. Infections and Inflammation: It can detect areas of infection or inflammation, such as in cases of arthritis or soft tissue injuries.

Supportive Health Benefits of Thermography

1. Non-Invasive: No radiation or contact is involved, making it a safe option for repeated use.

2. Early pattern detection: In some cases, it may detect physiological changes before structural changes are visible on other imaging methods.

3. Breast health support: Widely used as a supportive screening tool alongside other methods, offering radiation-free, non-invasive monitoring.

4. Circulation and vascular checks: Can help identify areas of reduced blood flow, inflammation, or imbalances that may benefit from lifestyle or medical follow-up.

5. Muscle and joint health: Supports the monitoring of injuries, repetitive strain, and recovery progress.

6. Whole-body wellness: A safe, radiation-free method to track changes over time, giving both clients and practitioners valuable information to support proactive health choices.

7. Painless: The procedure is comfortable and does not require any physical pressure or invasive techniques.

Limitations:

1. Not Diagnostic Alone: Thermography is not a standalone diagnostic tool. It provides complementary information and should be used alongside other diagnostic methods like MRI, X-rays, or ultrasound.

2. False Positives/Negatives: It can sometimes produce false positives (indicating a problem where none exists) or false negatives (missing an actual problem).

3. Limited Evidence: While thermography has potential, its effectiveness for certain conditions, like breast cancer screening, is not universally accepted by the medical community. More research is needed to establish its reliability.

4. Operator-Dependent: The accuracy of thermal scans can depend on the skill of the technician and the quality of the equipment.
